Want to install Windows 11 on my laptop but since the last Windows 10 update, the laptop has been crashing after 2 min. The following message appears on the screen and laptop starts rebooting automatically. It's going on and on and I cannot do anything. Any solutions? Thanks

Hi @Alek13,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

Do you see a specific blue screen error code or message before it restarts (like IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED)?

Did the crashes start immediately after the Windows 10 update, or only when you began the Windows 11 installation process?

What laptop model are you using, and do you know if it meets the Windows 11 hardware requirements (TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, etc.)?

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  •  Boot into Safe Mode: Restart the laptop and press F8 or hold Shift + F8 (sometimes F11 for HP recovery) to access Advanced Startup Options. From there, choose Safe Mode. If it runs stable in Safe Mode, the issue is likely driver‑related.
  • Uninstall recent updates: In Safe Mode, go to Settings > Update & Security > View update history and uninstall the most recent Windows update that triggered the crashes.
  •  Run Startup Repair: Boot from a Windows 10/11 installation USB, select Repair your computer, and run Startup Repair. This can fix corrupted system fils.
  •  Check drivers: Outdated or incompatible drivers (especially graphics or chipset) often cause reboot loops. Download the latest drivers from HP support page.
  •  System Restore: If you had restore points enabled, roll back to a point before the update.
  •  Clean install option: If nothing stabilizes Windows 10, you may need to back up your files and perform a clean install of Windows 11 using a bootable USB.

Since the crashes are happening so quickly, the safest path may be to boot from external media (Windows installation USB) and repair or reinstall from there.

I hope this helps

Hi there, thanks for the reply. Despite all the suggestions above that I tried, the problem still arises. I cannot boot the system with any of the above. Unfortunately, I don't have the UBS sticker with Windows installation. It seems that this model is too old for Windows 11. It is just a pity to throw it away since it would be used only for social media and internet.
