When I close the lid of my laptop for some reason it shuts the laptop down. And when I come back to open it and press the space bar the laptop restarts. Once the laptop restarts it preforms like normal but I don't understand why it shuts down instead of sleeping when I close the lid. The lid close settings are set to sleep and I also reset them to the factory settings and it still does the same thing.  I have noticed this only happens when my laptop isn't plugged in for charging. Once I take out the charging cable, the only then starts.

The issue started after my laptop finished updating the following driver update - intel corporation - extension - 21.70.0.3

Things I have already tried:

- Open power setting and see if the "What happens when I close the lid" setting is set to sleep or do nothing.

- Reset the above setting to factory

- I tried to find power-saving mode in bios to see if it was enabled but could not find it.

Hello @computerguy007

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

If you believe your issue started with the driver update, try uninstalling this update. Here are the steps to do it >> https://www.howtogeek.com/223864/how-to-uninstall-and-block-updates-and-drivers-on-windows-10/

Make sure you use the Microsoft tool to prevent it from installing again.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes
