Switching off suddenly

Hi @Prabhash_121,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that your HP laptop is shutting down unexpectedly. The provided HP guides point to these likely areas to check:

  • Overheating: HP warns not to block the computer air vents and to use the laptop only on a hard, flat surface. Soft surfaces like pillows, rugs, or clothing can block airflow and cause overheating.

  • Power management/battery / AC adapter: It includes troubleshooting for battery power, low battery levels, testing an AC adapter, and shutting down the computer.

Recommended HP Checks:

  1. Use the laptop on a hard, flat surface.

  2. Make sure the air vents are not blocked.

  3. Check battery charge status.

  4. Test with external AC power / AC adapter.

  5. Review the HP troubleshooting sections for overheating and startup/power issues.

Also, if what you see is the message “Device shutting down…”, HP states:

  • “The printer is shutting down.”

  • Recommended action: “No action necessary.”

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
