HP ENVY x360 Laptop - 15m-ed0013dx

My HP Envy started shutting down and would not boot back up until I unhook the battery after I updated to bios F.30   I have been trying to download F.29 to roll it back to but haven't been able to get it successfully from HP.  The HP Software Solutions software will not install for some reason.   I haven't been able to get it to download manually either.  I finally had to leave the screws out of my laptop so I can easily disconnect the battery quickly.  I would love to have this issue fixed.

Try a CMOS reset followed by a hard reset

Follow the steps below to reset computer CMOS data.

1. Turn off the computer.
2. Press and hold the Windows and the V keys.
3. While still pressing those keys, press and hold down the Power button on the computer for 2-3 seconds.
4. Release all the keys.
5. At the completion of a successful CMOS reset, a message showing CMOS Reset (502) will be displayed.
6. Restart the computer.
7. Press F10 to get in to bios. Check Date and time.
8. Press F9 to set bios defaults. Ensure secure boot is enabled.
9. save setting when you exit

If you do not see that 502 message then :

  • Turn on the computer by holding the power button down for 20 full seconds then release.
  • Press the Power button one more time (if necessary) to start the computer.
  • Tap the ESC key about once a second after you see the LEDs on the keyboard flash.
  • Do steps 7-9 above

I went through this process and was hopeful that it would take care of my problem but it did not.  I was right in the middle of working on a presentation and the laptop just goes dead.  This is with the battery still hooked up and the ac cord plugged up also.   Battery was at 100% but running on AC   I had to take the cover off and unplug the battery in order to get it to come on.

This all started after the F.30 bios update.  I would like to roll back to F.29 if possible.
