I've had this laptop for almost 8 months now - I am unable (and have been since the start) to use programmes like Skype and Microsoft Teams because the laptop is too slow and crashes after a few minutes of opening them (although I haven't had any problems with Zoom). I think this is less of a specific problem as the laptop is generally slow. Is there anything I can do myself at the moment that could go towards fixing this or is it to best to just wait until I can seek proper professional help?

Hello @noor123
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Sometimes such issues may not be a quick fix - but I can certainly try to help you. It depends on you if you are willing to spend some time, to troubleshoot, follow instructions, perform diagnostics. Please, let me know what you decide.
- If you agree, let me know - is this laptop completely new or you took it used/second hand about 8 months ago ?
- What is the HP product model and product number (p/n) -> here is how to find this information >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108
- Download and run the free version of Speccy > http://www.piriform.com/speccy
- https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy/download/standard
It will help me check your computer's specs and current software/hardware configuration.
Install and run the app. When it is ready, click on File > Save a snapshot
A file with .speccy extension will be generated. Please, upload it here as an attachment in your next reply
Further instructions will follow up eventually

Hello, thank you for they reply - I'm happy to follow the instructions.
Yes, I bought the laptop new.
Product number = 4BA44EA#ABU
Product model = 15-db0599sa
I'm sorry about the bad quality of this - I had to take a picture on my phone and compress the file as every time I tried to load the snapshot, it said the programme wasn't responding. Let me know if the information that appears in this isn't sufficient or is unreadable.
Thanks.

Hello @noor123
I can see that your PC originally comes with McAfee preinstalled. I would recommend that you uninstall it now as it sometimes can cause issues such as slowness, crashes, etc...
Click on the Windows Start button. Type and open Control Panel
Go to and open Programs and features
Find McAfee, click on it and uninstall it
Restart the computer when ready
Finally, it is important to download and run this McAfee removal tool MCPR to completely remove the product
>> http://us.mcafee.com/apps/supporttools/mcpr/mcpr.asp
Restart once again
Back to Windows:
1. Optimize
- run Disk Clean Up - cleanmgr.exe > https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3012-disk-cleanup-open-use-windows-10-a.html
- de-fragment your Hard Disk Drive (if you have hard disk drive) >> Here is how to do it >> https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/8933-optimize-defrag-drives-windows-10-a.html
2. Remove unneeded and temporary files. Download and run BleachBit
Select all options available and run the cleaner
- Let me know if you notice any improvement eventually.
- Run Speecy again (the one you downloaded initially). When it is ready, inside the app, click on File -> Save a snapshot. A file with .speccy extension will be generated. Please, upload it here as an attachment in your next reply
Thank you for your cooperation !
