Hp Revolve 810 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Laptop slowed down to a crawl.
Task manager shows GPU usage near 100% despite this being desktop apps - no graphics.

The offending processes are "Windows Desktop Manager" and "Clent server runtime process"

Tried updating graphics driver. The whole system crashed and could not be recovered.

Bought a new SSD (1TB) so there was lots of spare storage and did a fresh install of Win10 from the HP recovery DVD.
Installed new drivers by windows.
Installed drivers from HP.

Problem still exists.
Where to from here?
Please tell  me this isn't planned obsolescence.

Did those things, everything said it was good - see results lower down.

I tried to turn off file indexing on c: and all files/folders. It seemed to be changing file properties at the rate of 2 per second so I stopped it.

Then I went into the anti-virus & privacy settings and tuned off many features I dont use that could be slowing it down.
Then I turned off indexing as above but this time is was running really fast changing file properties much faster than I could read the filenames.

I hoped that was it but now there's a weirder situation - It can either be slow, with GPU usage near 100% (but not as slow as before) or run at full speed like it used to. I have no ideal why it changes.

Here's the result of the commands from earlier.

C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

I downloaded and ran the latest extended diagnostics under windows.
Everything passed except the battery test because the battery was full.
For lots of the test the GPU usage was as it should be (about 0-2%), but for a while it went closer to 100%.

I would like to try installing an old graphics driver. Where can I find this?
