HP Chromebook - 15-de0021cl

I have only had this computer about a year now. Roughly 5 months ago, when plugged into the wall & charger, no LED lights would come on to indicate it was charging. Ultimately I gave up, and put it away in a box. Recently I moved houses and found it, I plugged it in for kicks and giggles and the orange LED charging light came on. I left it alone initially thinking it probably needed a good charge due to the fact that it had been out of use for so long. The LED light turned white indicating a full charge, but when I went to turn it on, nothing. I tried all the reset tips and tricks from google. I'm desperate, can't afford to replace or take to a proper repair service so I'm hoping and praying someone has an answer. Thank you in advance!!

Hi @mdiddyyy,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Chromebook 15-De0021cl laptop not powering on. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Check the power adapter: Ensure that the power adapter is connected properly to both the laptop and a working power outlet. Verify that the charging indicator light on the laptop is lit when connected to power.
  • Reset the hardware: Perform a hard reset by unplugging the power adapter, removing the battery (if possible), and holding down the power button for about 15 seconds. Then, reconnect the power adapter and try turning on the laptop again.
  • Check for signs of life: Look for any indication that the laptop is receiving power, such as LED lights or fan noise. If there are no signs of life at all, it could indicate a power-related issue.
  • Test the power outlet: Try plugging another device into the same power outlet to ensure that the outlet is functioning correctly. If other devices work fine, it's likely not an issue with the power source.
  • Connect an external display: If the laptop appears to power on but the display remains blank, try connecting an external monitor or TV using the appropriate ports (HDMI or VGA) to see if the display is the problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
