I have had no problems with my laptop until recently. Several times, it refused to boot saying there was no OS on it. I ran various diagnostics, and each time it seemed that it couldn't find a hard drive. Now it doesn't boot at all. I read somewhere that a recent Windows security update had caused this problem, and have tried to follow some of the instructions posted to recover, reinstall Windows 10, etc. but they don't seem to be specifically for my laptop, and haven't worked. I have tried to use the tools under the bios manager to recover, and tried to install a fresh copy of Windows from media created and installed on a memory stick. I can get part way through the process, but then when I try to install the hard drive drivers, also on a memory stick, I get an error message saying "No usable drive configuration found", and I also get an error message stating the drive is formatted incorrectly, but wont let me reformat. Does anyone know where I can find a procedure that will solve any BIOS setting problems, and then walk me through installing Windows including installing the missing hard drive drivers. I don't mind whether it's using an HP tool, or from scratch using recovery data loaded onto a memory stick.....there is no data I need to recover from the laptop.
