So basically someone was pissed off at me and slammed my laptop shut really hard. The next day when I turned it on it seemed to work fine but was slower than usual and the disk was running at 100% in task manager for some reason, though I couldn't find the process using the most disk power. Around 15 minutes into using my laptop for chrome it was already extremely slow and kept lagging and there was a message from windows explorer saying 'disk error' I dismissed it and windows explorer seemed to restart because my desktop and taskbar vanished and reappeared. It got to the point where it was virtually unusable due to the lag so I decided to restart it, however I couldn't bring up the start menu so I tried to use alt+f4 on the desktop but to no avail. I then held down the power button for about 2-3 seconds to force shutdown. It worked. I turned it back on but it didn't boot windows. It showed the hp logo and had a loading circle below it. There was text that read something like 'Repairing hard disk errors. This may take over an hour.' I then connected it to power and left it for about 2 hours. When I returned it was on the boot manager. I tried to 'continue boot' by pressing enter. But that didn't work as it said there were disk errors or something. I looked through BIOS but everything looked normal. If I just press the power button and try to start it up normally it just flashes the 'press esc to open boot manager' in the corner for less than a second then just stays on a black screen forever. I tried pressing f11 to go to system recovery. It does something (shows hp logo with loading circle under with text "please wait". ) And does that for like 10-15 mins then just goes to the regular black screen. What should I do?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. I would suggest performing system factory reset will put the computer back to the original factory settings in this way all corrupted and outdated software will be removed.
While doing the recovery there is an option to back up your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.
Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows)You can also contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/
The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.
