Hi @Krissy64,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that your HP Laptop isn't powering on. There could be several reasons for this issue, and I'll provide you with some troubleshooting steps to try and identify the problem.
- Check the power source: Ensure that your laptop is connected to a functioning power outlet and that the power adapter is securely plugged into both the laptop and the outlet. If possible, try a different power outlet or a different power adapter to rule out any issues with the power source.
- Battery check: If your laptop has a removable battery, make sure it is properly inserted and has enough charge. Try removing the battery and powering the laptop directly from the power adapter. If your laptop doesn't have a removable battery, skip this step.
- Power reset: Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable). Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any residual power. Then reconnect the power adapter (and battery, if applicable) and try turning on the laptop again.
- External devices: Disconnect any external devices or peripherals, such as USB drives, printers, or external monitors. Sometimes, a faulty or incompatible device can prevent the laptop from powering on.
- Display issues: It's possible that the laptop is powering on, but the display isn't functioning correctly. After pressing the power button, listen for any sounds or fans spinning to indicate that the laptop is running. If you hear sounds or see lights indicating that it's powered on, but the screen remains blank, try connecting an external monitor to check if the display appears on the external screen.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
