Hi @Taya_21

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the situation so clearly—I’m really sorry you’re facing this after trying to update to Windows 11. The blinking caps lock light and absence of display suggest the system may be stuck in a firmware or hardware initialization loop.

You’ve done the right thing by reaching out early, and I’ll guide you through a clean recovery path.

Step-by-step actions to recover your HP laptop from no-display boot failure

1. Perform a full power reset
This clears residual charge and resets embedded controller states:

  • Disconnect the power adapter
  • If the battery is removable, take it out
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter
  • Press the power button once and observe the screen

2. Try a BIOS recovery
If the screen remains blank but lights blink:

  • Press and hold Windows + B, then press and hold the power button for 2–3 seconds
  • Release all keys
  • Wait up to 60 seconds—if successful, the BIOS recovery screen should appear
  • Follow on-screen instructions to restore BIOS

3. Test with an external monitor

  • Connect your laptop to an external display via HDMI or USB-C
  • Power on the laptop
  • If the external screen shows output, the issue may be with the built-in display or cable
  • If both screens remain blank, proceed to next step

4. Reset CMOS (if accessible)

  • If your laptop has a pinhole reset (usually near the bottom or side), insert a paperclip and hold for 10 seconds
  • If not, unplug power and hold Ctrl + Alt + Delete for 20 seconds
  • Reconnect power and try booting again

5. Use HP’s startup troubleshooting guide
Visit the official HP support page:

Let me know how the system responds after these steps. If the screen remains blank and the caps lock continues blinking, I can guide you through checking for specific blink codes or preparing a recovery USB.

You’re doing everything right by staying calm and methodical—I’ll be here to help you restore full functionality.
