Hi @Duther

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear about the issue with your laptop! It sounds like a serious power or hardware issue, especially given that the laptop isn't turning on or showing signs of charging. Here are some steps you can take to try to resolve this problem:

1. Perform a Hard Reset (Power Cycle)

This is one of the most common fixes for laptops that don't turn on or fail to power up properly.

Steps:

  • Power off the laptop completely by holding down the Power button for 10-15 seconds.
  • Unplug the charger from the laptop.
  • Remove the battery (if removable). If your laptop has a built-in battery, you can skip this step, but for laptops with removable batteries, it helps to remove and reinsert it after a few minutes.
  • Press and hold the Power button for another 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Reinsert the battery (if removable) and plug the charger back in.
  • Try turning the laptop on again.

2. Check the Charger and Power Cable

  • Inspect the charging cable and adapter for any visible damage, fraying, or loose connections.
  • If possible, try using another charger with the same voltage and connector type (borrow one or use a compatible charger from another device) to rule out a faulty charger.

3. Test the Power Button

Sometimes, the power button itself can become stuck or unresponsive.

  • Ensure the power button is not stuck in a pressed-down position and that there's no debris around it.
  • Try pressing it gently multiple times to see if it responds.

4. Try Booting in Safe Mode (If It Turns On)

If you manage to get the laptop to turn on even briefly, try booting it in Safe Mode:

  • Turn on the laptop and immediately press the F8 key (or Shift + F8) repeatedly to access the Advanced Boot Options menu.
  • From there, select Safe Mode and let the laptop boot.
  • If the system boots successfully into Safe Mode, there could be a software or driver conflict causing the issue.

5. Check for Overheating

  • If the laptop was overheating while gaming, it might have shut down automatically to protect itself. Check if the laptop is unusually hot. Allow it to cool down for a bit, then try turning it on again.
  • Make sure the cooling vents aren't blocked, and clean out any dust buildup (if you're comfortable opening the laptop for cleaning).

6. Remove External Devices

  • Disconnect all external devices like USB drives, external hard drives, and printers.
  • Sometimes, external devices can cause boot issues or power problems.
  • Try powering up again without anything plugged in.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
