Hi,

Since the laptop has not been used for around a year and a half, the battery may be deeply discharged. The amber charging light usually indicates that the battery is charging, but it may need more time before the laptop can turn on.

Please try the following steps:

  1. Keep the laptop connected to the original HP charger for a few more hours.
  2. Make sure the charger, power cable, and wall socket are working properly.
  3. Disconnect the charger, then press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the charger and try to power it on again.
  5. If the laptop has a removable battery, remove the battery and try powering it on using the charger only.

If it still does not turn on after charging for several hours, the battery may have failed due to long storage, or there may be a hardware issue that needs diagnosis.

Also, please share the exact laptop model or product number so we can guide you better.

Hope this helps.
