Just purchased HP 17" Business Laptop 2026 Edition and cannot get past the License Agreement page.  I've tried several times reading through the agreements and I get a "something went wrong try again later message".  How can I get past this to finish setup.

Hi @Jambie,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

It looks like your new HP 17" Business Laptop (2026 Edition) is stuck at the license agreement acceptance screen during Windows 11 setup. The “Something went wrong, try again later” message is a known installation glitch that usually happens when the system fails to validate the agreement. Let’s walk through how to get past it.

Perform a hard reset

  • Turn off the computer.
  • Disconnect the AC adapter.
  • Remove any discs from the disc drive.
  • Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.
  • Disconnect all nonessential peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives.
  • With the AC adapter unplugged, press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the AC adapter, and then turn on the computer.

Enter Safe mode

  • Power off the laptop completely.
  • Turn it on and press F11 repeatedly to enter the Windows Recovery Environment.
  • Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart.
  • After restart, press F4 to enter Safe Mode.
  • Retry setup and accept the License Agreement.
Why: Safe Mode loads minimal drivers, reducing interference from corrupted setup components.

Try Setup Offline

  • Disconnect Wi‑Fi/Ethernet before reaching the License Agreement screen.
  • Accept the agreement offline.
  • Reconnect after setup completes.

Why: This bypasses online validation errors that can block acceptance.

Use HP Recovery Manager

  • Restart and press F11.
  • Choose System Recovery.
  • Follow the prompts to reinstall Windows 11.

Why: Recovery Manager restores the factory OS image, fixing corrupted setup files.

Expected Outcome

You’ll be able to accept the license agreement and finish setup.

Windows 11 will activate automatically once setup completes.

I hope this helps

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Best regards,
