HP Pavilion x2 - 10-n107nl
Linux

Good morning

I want to share my experience with a product HP Pavilion x2 - 10-n107nl purchased years ago and not used for reasons of slowness with a pre-installed operating system, this is Windows.
I decided a while ago to use it with the Debian Linux distribution. And, it was finally possible to exploit all the potential of the tablet-PC with the Debian 12 version downloadable from the official website

1) Installation

After downloading the file and copying it onto a flash drive with the Ventoy system, I started the installation by booting from the flash drive. I choose the most important ones as problems in previous linux versions.

Changed Bios settings:

- disabled Secure boot

- changed boot order to boot from external usb cd-drive

Then restart.

1.1) Networks:
- the wifi network card is automatically detected;
- choose the wifi network and enter password.

1.2) Disk partition:
- Guided - use entire disk;
- Select disk to partition: select MMC/SD card the internal memory of the tablet-pc;
- Partitioning scheme: I selected option > Separate /home partition;
- Configuring volumes (you will need some familiarity with Partition manager). Then, automatically swap from just 1GB. Perhaps, it is better to increase the swap. At that time:
> root > 10GB > /
> swap > 4GB > swap
> home > 16GB > /home

1.3) Package manager. Use mirror > No (to have the largest list of software add a network mirror after installation).

1.4) Desktop. I chose XFCE is most polished and has more features, more options to choose like menu more panel plugins etc. And, as lighter.

Other issues.
1) Gnome 3 is not allowing me to log in as root. You should edit the file /etc/pam.d/gdm-password commenting (use #) the line that contains the root user check:

  #auth required pam_succeed_if.so user != root quiet_success

2) Some video & pictures.
