Hi i am trying to get Ubuntu on the along side windows HP Spectre x360 - 15-ch004na and I can install it and I have installed it in it's own partation on the drive and installed the bootloader and all but when trying to boot ubuntu it will crash as soon as the GRUB2 menu appears. It almost apears as if the OS is getting blocked.
I have tried a version 18.04 and 18.10 of ubuntu and tried resintalling several times, I tried to disable secture boot and the TPM and it still will just crash as soon as the bootloader loads.

HP only warranties their PCs for usage with the OS that comes preinstalled. IF you replace that or add a different OS, then you assume full responsibility for maintaining that other OS -- as HP then provides assistance only on Redhat and then only to commercial customers.
Your best bet for Linux support, since HP does not provide Linux support to consumers, not does it provide Linux drivers, is to contact the support forum for the Linux distro you are trying to install -- in this case, the Ubuntu Forums: http://ubuntuforums.org/
Folks there have experience using HP machines with Linux and know a lot about driver sources and installation issues.
Good Luck
