Hi people
I found a problem on the EliteBook 1030 G1 i installed on it a Xubuntu 16.4 Linux OS when the notebook is connected on the HP 2013 UltraSlim Docking station and there's an external monitor on it, i extend the desktop on both screens but after a while the external monitor is no more detected so i need to disconnect the docking station and reconnect it to detect the monitor again.:robotsad:
I tested it with a windows system and this doesn't happen, are special drivers to install on linux to make the docking station work better ?:robotvery-happy:
Thanks for your help

Hello;
Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!
Docking stations come in two very different forms.
One uses as proprietary connector in the laptop that mates with a similar connector in the docking station. You can tell these because they have parallel rows of lots of connectors. This type of dock might require Windows drivers -- it been a long time since I used one of these, so I don't remember, exactly.
The othre docking station is a generic one and connects through USB connection. My experience with these is that they do not require drivers.
Either way, HP only warranties their PCs for usage with the OS that comes preinstalled. IF you replace that or add a different OS, then you assume full responsibility for maintaining that other OS -- as HP then provides no assistance on that.
Your best bet for Linux support, since HP does not provide Linux drivers, is to contact the support forum for the Linux distro you are trying to install.
Good Luck

Hi @joanluc
With Linux all drivers are already part of the kernel - the Linux kernel you use. There is no additional 3rd party driver to install and get from the community. The community already contibuted and everything is in the kernel. Here is more info >> https://www.howtogeek.com/213488/how-to-install-hardware-drivers-on-linux/
I recommend you check your video card drivers (if AMD/NVidea) in the Driver Manager (Software & Updates)
If this does not help, try different kernel - Ubuntu/Xubuntu 14 LTS has older kernel version. Linux Mint is the easiest to manage different kernel versions. 14 LTS comes with kernel 3, 16 comes with kernel 4.
