Hi @SerwaK,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If you're locked out of your HP laptop and need to reset your password, I’ll guide you through the official HP-supported steps depending on your situation.

Choose Your Scenario

1. If You're Using a Microsoft Account

Most Windows 11 laptops use a Microsoft account to sign in.

Steps to reset:

  1. Go to Microsoft Password Reset
  2. Choose “I forgot my password”
  3. Follow the prompts to verify your identity and reset your password
  4. Once reset, restart your laptop and sign in with the new password

2. If You're Using a Local Account (Not Microsoft)

If your laptop uses a local account (no email address shown on the login screen):

Steps to reset:

  1. On the login screen, click “Reset password” (if available)
  2. If not available, you’ll need to use a password reset disk (if created earlier)
  3. If no disk exists, you’ll need to:
    • Boot into Safe Mode with Command Prompt
    • Use command-line tools to create a new admin account or reset the password

3. If You Can’t Access Any Account

If you're completely locked out and none of the above options work:

  • You may need to reset the PC:
    • On the login screen, click Power > Restart while holding Shift
    • Choose Troubleshoot > Reset this PC
    • You can choose to keep your files or remove everything

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
