I only bought the device recently, and as such haven’t performed any back ups as I didn’t expect an issue to arise so early. So because of this I have files which I can’t lose stored on my laptop which I can’t get any access to.
Ive contacted Microsoft and they said the key may be stored in the motherboard, but hp said that isn’t the case.

BitLocker comes preloaded automatically on some of the newer HP laptops. It is not something that you installed.
AND ... the first thing you do with such laptops is use the BitLocker function to export the recovery key to a USB stick or file on external device.
Since you did not do that, there is no way NOW to recover that key.

So, i was never given a prompt about Bitlocker. Nothing about its encryption service or a key when I set the laptop up. I would know considering i did that very recently. I didn’t upload it to another device or transfer it to a USB, because I was never given the option to. How can that be the process, that if the key isn’t in any of those places (which i was never prompted transfer this key to) that I just automatically lose all my things. How is there not another way around this, considering up until a few days ago I had no idea this program was even on my computer.
