Hi @Jointy,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you are unable to access your HP laptop because it is asking for a PIN, you may have set up a PIN as an additional security measure. Here are some steps you can try to access your laptop.

1. Try using your PIN: If you have set up a PIN, try entering it to unlock your laptop.

2. Use your fingerprint: Even though you have fingerprint recognition set up, it's possible that you may still need to enter your PIN as a backup. Try using your fingerprint as well as entering your PIN.

3. Reset your PIN: If you cannot remember your PIN, you can reset it by logging in with your Microsoft account. Follow these steps to reset your PIN.

  • On the login screen, click on "I forgot my PIN."
  • Enter your Microsoft account email address and follow the prompts to verify your identity.
  • Once verified, you can reset your PIN.

4. Use another account: If you are unable to access your account, you can try logging in with another account that has administrative privileges on the laptop.

5. Use recovery options: If none of the above options work, you can use recovery options to reset your laptop to its factory settings. Keep in mind that this will erase all your personal data and settings, so make sure to back up your important files before proceeding.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
