HP 2000z-2c00 CTO Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I tried using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool to get the OS recovery iso file to burn to my USB stick and when I type in my Product ID which I know I typed correctly, it says "Product ID does not match or is invalid. Please contact HP support." Somebody please help me! I need it cause I replaced the original hard drive with an SSD. All I want is the recovery media for that laptop so I can reset it to it's original factory settings, upgrade it, then put it to use again. Does anyone have a link to the recovery media so I can just have it without having to go through multiple steps???

Hi:

Only certain HP consumer class notebooks that came with W10 and were made in 2016 or later, are supported by the HP cloud recovery tool.

Yours meets neither of those requirements.

HP no longer sells recovery media for your notebook.

I am going to give you two options to reinstall W8.1...free and paid.

Free:

Install W8.1 by creating the Microsoft installation media, using another Windows PC, if yours is not working...You want W8.1 64 bit.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8ISO

If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, use this generic key.

This is the generic key for W8.1 'Standard.'

When you get to the screen that asks 'Where do you want to install Windows,' delete every partition on the hard drive, leaving just one partition of unallocated space. Click Next, and W8.1 should begin to install.

If you had to enter the generic key, manually change the generic product key to the W8 key in your PC's BIOS in the PC settings menu.

After you get W8.1 installed, and you had to manually enter the W8.1 generic product key, you will need to run the free utility I zipped up and attached below, that will show you show the W8 product key in your PC's BIOS.

I have also zipped up and attached below, the Microsoft tool which hopefully will transfer the ISO file to a DVD or USB flash drive so it is bootable.

Then you can install the available drivers and software from your PC's support page.

Paid:

Order W8 recovery media for your notebook from this vendor at the link below, and then take the free upgrade back to W8.1

Make sure you select the correct product number of your PC in one of those 3 radio button options
