Hi, I recently ran a Hard disk test because my computer won't start. A black screen with the mouse arrow was the only thing that showed up. The result was
Hard disk short DST : failed
FAILURE ID: 64SFTK-6R69L6-MFPWWJ-60UF03
I want to know what this failure means and if I have to replace my hard drive, will I be losing my information?
Thanks

Hi:
The error code reported, Hard Disk 1 Quick Test Failure, does mean the hard drive needs to be replaced.
If you can't get into Windows to recover your files, most likely they won't be recoverable.
You can remove the drive, spend a little money to get a USB to SATA cable and see if you can read the contents of the hard drive in another PC's USB port.
