@Anna265,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

You may still be able to recover it. Here are a few retrieval steps I would suggest to try:

1.) Look for the AutoRecover folder: By default, Microsoft Word saves a copy of unsaved documents in the AutoRecover folder. To access this folder, open Word, click on "File" in the top left corner, and then select "Options." Next, click on "Save" in the left-hand menu, and look for the "AutoRecover file location" field. Note down the location and navigate to the folder in File Explorer.

2.) Search for temporary files: If the AutoRecover folder doesn't have your unsaved document, try searching for temporary files. Please open File Explorer and navigate to the following folder:

C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\UnsavedFiles.

Look for any files with the ".asd" extension and try opening them in Word.

3.) Check the Recycle Bin: If you accidentally deleted the document, it may still be in the Recycle Bin. Open the Recycle Bin by double-clicking on its icon on the desktop and see if you can find the document there.

4.) Use file recovery software: If none of the above steps work, you can try using file recovery software such as Recuva, EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, or Disk Drill. These programs can scan your hard drive for deleted or lost files and help you recover them.

Note that the chances of recovering an unsaved Word document depend on various factors, such as how much time has passed since the document was last saved, whether you have closed the application or not, and whether the file has been overwritten or not.

Hope this was helpful.

Thank you so much for your help, means a lot. However, I have tried everything. It's so weird because on my settings the automatic time to save any document was 10 minutes. I understand that was my fault that I haven't click on AutoSave so now I wouldn't have to deal with this drama. It's university work and I just lost so important notes, ideas etc. I was working almost every day on this document and it was still off of Autosave and I was still able to open it and still find it. Suddenly, today disappear. I still have the word but the very old ones, before I did any changes or write more. Even if the AutoSaved was off, I supposed to still be able to find the word document as every single day without losing all of this. I really don't know what to do next. I haven't tried any application in order to recover my data because i find them pricey. On google it keep saying that there is no chance you unsaved, deleted or lost something from Word because it has the capability to recover it. However, looks I'm very unlucky. Any further help would be much appreciated. 😓

@Anna265,

There are free file recovery software versions.

Here are two of the most liked:

1.) The official website for Recuva is www.ccleaner.com/recuva. You can download the free version of Recuva from the website by clicking on the "Download Free Version" button on the homepage. The website offers both a free and a paid version of the software. The free version should be sufficient for most users, but the paid version offers additional features and technical support. Be sure to download the software from the official website to ensure that you are getting a safe and legitimate version of the software.

2.) The official website for EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard is www.easeus.com/data-recovery-software/. You can download the free version of EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard from the website by clicking on the "Free Download" button on the homepage. The website offers both a free and a paid version of the software. The free version allows you to recover up to 2GB of data, but the paid version offers unlimited data recovery and additional features. As with any software, be sure to download the software from the official website to ensure that you are getting a safe and legitimate version of the software.

Hope this was helpful.

It didn't help me. Just found the deleted/recycled ones. My doc is not deleted is still there I can still have access to it, but it has very old work before I've done any changes/correct it, etc.

Thanks again
