I have just purchased a new HP ProBook 440G4 with the following configurations
HP 440G4 with core i5 Gen 7 Processor
16GB RAM
256 GB SSD
Win 10 Pro 64 Bit
The laptop came preloaded with Win 10 64 bit OS & other HP preinstalled software. The windows prompted for an OS update which I did after downloading about 4GB of Win 10 update. The other software which I installed were the MS Office 365 & Kaspersky Internet security. The Win 10, Office 365 & Kaspersky Internet security are updated to their latest versions. There is currently no data in the laptop since I have not yet started to use it.
After all the software updates, the size of free space available in all the disks are as follows
Window (C 149GB free of 218 GB
Recovery Image (D 2.15GB free of 16.5GB
HP_TOOLS (E 1.98GB free of 1.99GB
Queries
1. The total disk space in the disk is 256GB, whereas the disk space showing in the various partitions is totalling up to much lesser. 218+16.5+1.99 = 236.49GB. Where is the balance 256 - 236.49 = 19.51GB ?
2. Does Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit along with Office 365 & Kaspersky Internet Security occupy 69GB of HDD space ? Seems way too high for me.
3. How can we free up more space ? I have not yet installed any of my application programs & data. I need space for them.
Thank & Regards,

69 gb are not high .
to be honest . if i use ssd at those GB i use it as primary for windows, drivers, and few basic programs and i use secondary disk 500 gb + for ALL of the programs / games / data / downloads and etc.
As i see your free space is healthy !
If you believe that you will pass that size or replace the disk or add external HDD to have the heavy duty

Hello;
Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!
Let me try to answer your questions ...
1) Disk space counts -- since your PC is new, it uses UEFI instead of BIOS, and for that it needs additional system partitions on the drive, and that space is not shown in the totals you see.
2) Space used -- even with a new PC, Windows Update will use considerable space because MS has switched over to large cumulative updates.
3) Recovery space -- you might be able to free up some of this space following these instructions: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3012-disk-cleanup-open-use-windows-10-a.html
Good Luck
