HP ENVY x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, The low battery warning has suddenly stoppped working on my HP ENVY laptop. I have made NO changes on my device. I have tried the hard reset, checked all the drivers are upto date, and checked that all the , and all the battery notifications settings (under the advanced settings for power options) seem to be OK. So what can I do to fix this issue?

@PLO1

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
  • Does the notebook shut down immediately (right after you unplug the charger)?
  • Do you get any error message on your notebook (Such as Plugged in, not charging, etc.)?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

1. Go to Start, search for Device Manager, and open this result.

2. Expand batteries.

3. Right-click on the ACPI option (usually the 2nd option) and select delete or uninstall. Follow the prompts.

4. Shut down the computer.

5. Disconnect the charger.

6. Remove the battery.

7. Hold down the power button for 1 minute.

8. Insert the battery only.

9. Attempt to turn the battery on.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hello, Thanks a lot for your answer.

Now please ,note that I have HP ENVY x360  (less than two years old) which I do not think has a removable battery. At least I can not remove the battery without opening the whole back cover of the laptop, and hence could not try the steps you provided below.

The answers to your questions are:

  • Q1: Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
  • Answer: I do not think so. I
  • Q2: Does the notebook shut down immediately (right after you unplug the charger)?
  • Answer: No. When I remove unplug the charger, the laptop works on battery for a while. But lately I noticed that when using the battery, the laptop shuts down at random level of battery - sometimes even when there is still supposed over 20% of battery left. And I have set the low and critical battery level notifications and actions way below that level.
  • Do you get any error message on your notebook (Such as Plugged in, not charging, etc.)? No. I have run the HP battery diagnostic checks which claim that the battery is working well (did this also at the boot step using the F2 key and running the component check for the battery which did not provide any error messages)

So, I am getting rally desperate about this issue, since right now I can not really use my HP ENVY laptop without a charger since I now never really know when the laptop decides to just shutdown. SO, could you PLEASE help me how to fix this?

Thanks!
