Product: HP 255 G7 Notebook PC

I recently just got a 256 M.2 SSD 
"kioxia kbg40zns256g"

Device manager (and Storage Spaces within control panel) Can see the drive, and after a few things i've installed, I can select properties and see the drive's capacity. However I'm unable to actually use the drive normally in windows?
It doesn't show up in Explorer and the only way I can use it is through storage spaces (which I don't want to do as I intend on using the drive as A boot drive) Any tips?

AMD Ryzen 2200u
12GB ram
500gb Primary HDD

It doesn't make sense. How can you see its properties ?
