"MACHINE CHECK EXCEPTION ERROR"
Upon returning from a trip in December I attempted to boot up my previously perfectly fine laptop to run into this BSOD error message. I attempted to restart the laptop, sometimes it booted, sometimes it just sat at the starting windows black screen or BSOD.
I sent out the laptop for repairs through geek squad. They wiped all of my info (gave permission) and ran diagnostic. After 2 months of waiting they sent it back stating they did not have the necessary parts for repair. No other information. I attempted to turn it on again, and it took me through reinstalling windows. Worked after this, but with freezing lasting seconds every minute or so, and eventually back to BSOD/ black loading screen. Left for a couple of weeks and tried again today - now I have all the same issues with the addition of one of my fans malfunctioning error (great).
I just read another article and tried running the quick diagnostic . Everything came up as PASSED/OK. Cannot access F11 restore option.
What now? Paid a lot of money for this to just stop working a month after the warranty expires.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. I would suggest performing system factory reset will put the computer back to the original factory settings in this way all corrupted and outdated software will be removed.
While doing the recovery there is an option to backup your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.
Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows )You can also contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/
The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.
