If I have Windows defender already on my computer and my McAfee trail ended, do I need to pay extra to renew it, or is Windows defender enough security?

I have always used Windows Defender since Windows 7.

 

Never had a problem with viruses or malware.

 

You have the option to pay an annual fee for McAfee but that's up to you.

 

If you decide to just go with Windows defender, you can use the McAfee software uninstall tool to remove the software.

 

McAfee KB - How to uninstall your McAfee product from a Windows PC

 

After the McAfee software is installed, you may have to manually turn on Windows Defender.

 

Turn Microsoft Defender Firewall on or off - Microsoft Support

 

If you ever decide you want McAfee back, you can reinstall the software from their website.
