Memory Increase on HP 15 Dw1083wm

My HP15 DW1083wm laptop has 1 memory slot @ 4gb can I increase the 4gb to 8gb with a new module?

Hi:

HP only has the service manual for the older model series.

According to chapter 1 for the older models, the notebook has one memory slot and can support up to 1 x 8 GB of memory.

I'm thinking that perhaps if your notebook only has one memory slot, the newer processor will support 16 GB of memory.

Crucial is recommending this 16 GB chip...

If you only want to go with 8 GB, you can use this one instead.

If you find out that the notebook with the newer Intel® Pentium® Gold 6405U processor has two memory slots, you can add the new memory in the empty slot.

It has only 1 memory slot but would like to go to 16

Should be no problem.

You can do this to see how much memory your notebook can support...

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
