HP Recommended

I bought my daughter a customized hp pavilion directly through hp and the motherboard stopped working 1 week after the warranty ended.  She took it to ubreak and they said hp has to fix it.  We took it to 2 other repair shops and both recommended against ever buying an hp as they have known issues and hp doesn't fix them.  They both recommended Dell.  I can't afford another laptop though.  This was an expensive laptop and college classes start on the 22nd.  This is unacceptable at this price point of a laptop and it barely lasted a year.
