Your new laptop has an "AMD Quad-Core A10-7300 APU with Radeon R6 Graphics (1.9 GHz, 4 MB cache)",
with one stick of 8GB DDR3L RAM, and a 1000GB disk-drive (only 5400 RPM -- not 7200 RPM, unfortunately for you).
So, I think that your new laptop should be much faster.

From:
your computer was shipped with 8GB of RAM.
Why do you think that you need more RAM than that?
Look at the bottom of the laptop.
Is it one solid piece, or is there a small (maybe 2-inch by 2-inch) rectangular plate, with a few screws holding it in place?
The RAM (or the disk-drive, or the wireless adapter) could be "under" that plate, if it exists.
Otherwise, you'll have to start disassembling the laptop, starting with the keyboard.
This "disassembly" is very technical -- definitely something that you should out-source to a qualified computer technician.
Google-search for "download SPECCY free".
Download and install SPECCY, and run it.
It will give all the details about the RAM (manufacturer, speed, type)
and the number of "full" and the number of "empty" RAM slots.
