Missing Devices After Windows 7 Re-Installation

Hi,

I recently had to completely clear my laptop and re-install Windows 7 due to a ransomware virus. I have the Pavilion 2153ca. Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to download the following missing devices:

Ethernet Controller

PCI Device

PCI Simple Communications Controller

SM Bus Controller

Uknown Device (Hardware Ids: ACPI\HPQ0004)

Uknown Device (Hardware Ids: USB\VID_138A&PID_0018&REV_0078) 

I have tried the "update driver" button in the "Device Manager" section but it searches endlessly with no results. If anyone is able to give some guidance on this issue it would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much! Everything was resolved except for the Ethernet Controller. When I try to run the set up application I get a message saying "The Realtek Network Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled please plug the cable." Do you know how to fix this?

You're very welcome Kristen.

Normally that message means you need to install the Intel chipset driver first before installing the ethernet driver, but since I assume you followed my instructions above, and installed the Intel chipset driver first, the only other suggestion I can offer which worked for another forum member recently, is to remove the battery for 15 minutes or so.

I would even go so far as to suggest you follow the hard reset procedure since you have to remove the battery anyway.

But leave the battery out for 15 minutes before following the rest of the guidance.

Unfortunately, that did not work. Is it possible I have the wrong Network Controller? I tried qutie a few things before finding a download from Intel that allowed me to get the Network Controller working, but the Ethernet set-up mentioned a Realtek Network Controller instead. If so, do you happen to have a link to the correct Network Controller device download? Also, how would I uninstall the Intel Network Controller that I previously downloaded if that is the problem?

Hi:

Is there any device listed under an Other Devices category that still needs a driver?

If so, please post the hardware ID for the device needing the driver.

To find the hardware ID, click on the device needing the driver.

Then click on the Details tab at the top of the device window.

Now you will see a Property drop down list and it will be set to Device Description.

Drop down on that list, and select the 2nd item (Hardware ID's).

Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.

Yes, it's the Ethernet Controller that is listed under "Other Devices" with a yellow exlamation point beside it. The hardware Id's are the following:

PCI\VEN_1969&DEV_1083&SUBSYS_1650103C&REV_CO

PCI\VEN_1969&DEV_1083&CC_020000

PCI\VEN_1969&DEV_1083&CC_0200

Yes, it does, and it is not the Realtek ethernet adapter that I thought your notebook had, which is why you got the message the Realtek adapter was in deep sleep mode.  Very deep sleep mode indeed.

This package provides the Atheros Local Area Network (LAN) Driver that enables the Atheros Network Interface Card (NIC) Chip in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.
