Alright, here's the full story in case any of these details are needed to understand what my problem is:

I was playing Minecraft and suddenly the game crashed. I was fine with that, Minecraft has crashed on me before, I figured it was internet issues (which I have a lot of). I realized it was late and decided I didn't need to get back in the game. So I closed everything and shut my laptop down for the night. The next day, I open my laptop and enter my password to log on. I forget exactly what it said, but when I first input my password it gave me a prompt saying something about how it was having trouble logging me in. I thought this was strange, but I closed the prompt and put my password in again and it logged me in just fine. However, I logged in to a completely fresh desktop. The background was the Windows logo, and none of my shortcuts where on my desktop. I went into Windows (C:) and went to Users, I found all of my files and shortcuts and moved them back to my desktop. I figured a restart was in order, to see if that would help. I restarted, logged in; my desktop background was back to normal, my downloaded apps had their shortcuts back on the desktop screen. However, all of my files and folders were gone from my desktop again. I went back to Windows (C:) and Users again, and they weren't there. I have tried the process of creating a new user and finding my files on that new user and copying them to my main user, however none of my files or folders were on the new user, so that didn't help. All of my downloaded apps are still here, and I still have access to my Minecraft worlds (which are stored in folders in the system, so if my other files are gone, the Minecraft files should be gone as well, but they aren't). I restarted my computer once again, and in Quick Access I found some of my missing folders and files, however when I click on them I get a prompt saying I cannot access them due to these files being either moved or deleted.

I am an author, I have so much work on this computer and I cannot lose it all. Please, someone help me get my files/folders/documents/photos back. Please.

@Madomeda Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are looking at the missing files.

Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.

In that case, please perform the system restore and check for the result.

The problem with doing a system restore, is that I do not have a restore point saved when I had my files. If I create a new restore point, it would be useless because it wouldn't have my files. Are you sure doing a system restore will work?

@Madomeda

I understand your concerns.

HP will not support customer data.  I would suggest you contact local stores and check.

They may help you.

Have a nice day!!
