I run a repair shop.  I had a customer bring this laptop in with a failed hard drive.  I typically pull the windows 8 product keys out of the MSDM table located in the BIOS, but this one doesn't have any MSDM table or licensing information in the BIOS.  None of my typical utilities will recognize it.  It has a Windows 8 Pro sticker on it, and this is the first time I have ever encountered a Windows sticker on a computer with no licensing information on (sticker) or in (MSDM table in BIOS) it.  Can someone advise on the best course of action here?  It is genuinely licensed, but I am unable to pull the licensing.

Ok, after more digging, this machine has a Windows 8 Pro sticker on it, and is lacking a MSDM table with Windows 8 licensing.  However, it has a SLIC table for Windows 7 licensing.  I am very confused as to why this would happen, but either way I have some sort of legitimate key to run an OS now.  I guess this is solved.

If your system is missing an MSDM table that should be there, check for a SLIC table instead.
