Hi everyone,
I purchased an OMEN 17.3 inch Gaming Laptop PC (Product number: 2Y4A3AV). I've been keeping my system up to date, but a few days ago, I encountered an issue after updating to Windows 11. The update process informed me that my current version had reached its end of life and suggested using the Upgrade Assistant.
After following the Upgrade Assistant's instructions and rebooting, my computer couldn't detect the hard drive. I've tried reinstalling Windows, but the installer doesn't recognize the hard drive either2. There's an option to add drivers during the installation, but HP hasn't provided the necessary drivers in a format compatible with the Windows installer.
Does anyone know how I can get HP to provide the drivers I need, or any other suggestions to resolve this issue?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Your notebook has an Intel Core 11th gen processor, which requires Intel RST storage controller driver be supplied to the Windows installer to detect the storage drive during the Windows installation.
You can follow the steps below for the IRST driver installation:
1. Use a Windows installation usb drive created with Microsoft Media Creation Tool (an ISO file-based installation usb drive tends to cause errors during the IRST driver installation).
2. Download Intel RST driver from the link below. Run it as administrator and follow on-screen instructions to perform the driver extraction process.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp146501-147000/sp146929.exe
3. Go to C:\SWSetup\sp146929. Double click the sp146929 folder and copy the F6 folder to the root directory of a Windows installation usb drive. The F6 folder contains IRST drivers which the installation setup needs to detect the storage drive.
4. Connect the usb drive to the notebook and boot the system from the usb drive. When asked where to install Windows, click on Load Driver. Click on Browse and click the usb drive in the window that opens. Click the F6 folder then OK.
5. Multiple driver files may be displayed. Select one and click Next.
6. The storage drive will be displayed with partitions if the drive has Windows installed previously. Delete all of the partitions to just see "unallocated space" and click Next to proceed the installation.

@Tk_srq, I want to thank you very much for your response. Not only did you get me the information very quickly but it was very easy to follow. I was just able to get my laptop working just now.
I am curious if you have time, how you knew where to go to get the driver. I don't think it was on the driver page for my laptop, and if it was, the description wasn't useful.
Thanks again.

Glad that your notebook is running again.
The IRST driver you just used is from the driver downloads page of my 15-dy2xxx notebook. This driver works for any notebooks with Intel Core 11th-13th gen processors.
Your notebook's driver support page lists this IRST driver that supports W11. This is a little older version but probably works for your model for the installation of W11 24H2.
