HP Pavilion dv6 3225dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I turned my Laptop on yesterday, and it came up as “missing operating system”. Hard drive passes quick and comprehensive testing. So I downloaded the windows 10 iso from another computer, however when I put usb into my computer and try to boot of it nothing happens.
how can I get my laptop up and running again.

You're very welcome.

The key should work for both bit versions.

Hi:

Instead of downloading the ISO file, have the media creation tool automatically create a bootable USB W10 installation flash drive.

When you downloaded the ISO file, did you use any utility to transfer it to the flash drive so that it is bootable?

You can't just copy and paste the ISO file to a flash drive or DVD.  It will not boot up that way.

I used my friend Mac to download it off Safari from the MS website. I just download it to the flash drive then took flash drive to my computer inserted it into the USB port and tried to book off usb

You have to use a utility to mount the ISO file to a flash drive so that it is bootable and you have to use a Windows PC to do it with for the utility that I zipped up and attached below or the free Rufus utility...

Rufus - The Official Website (Download, New Releases)

Good evening Paul,

I just got in the mail today I version of windows 10 home and Pro 64 bit.
the packaging say to go In and change boot order to internal CD/DVD and then I saved and exited.
I put the disc in the machine and started the machine the HP logo showed up and then nothing it s not booting. And the laptop is just doing the same thing over and over. HP logo then nothing. Any suggestions that you might have to force this laptop to boot and install a fresh new copy onto the hard drive. There has to be something that can be done to fix this problem. Please help. Greatly appreciated

Hi, Jeff:

See if this works...

Have the DVD in the PC.

Turn it on or restart it.

Immediately press/tap the ESC key to get the menu of options.

Select the F9 boot options menu, and from that select the DVD drive and press the enter key.

Watch the screen for a message to press any key to boot from the DVD, and then press the enter key.

Now the PC should boot from the DVD drive.

Okay that worked, I was changing the boot order from within the bios settings.
now the next issue it started up and gave me a choice of Windows 10 32bit or 64bit I went with 64bit cause that is the size I need. The bar at the bottom the screen said Loading Files shortly after it loaded files an error message came up about a device that may have been removed improperly, I have nothing attached to the laptop so I restarted and did the process again and directly after Loading File it went back to same error message so I raved down to windows 10 Memory diagnostics tool and it is running now on pass 3 if 15   So far so good it is report that no problems have been detected yet. When it finished I will let you know I what happens
