Hi @Hiteshwayvine,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're seeing the error message "Missing operating system" on your HP Laptop 15, it indicates that your computer is unable to find a valid operating system to boot from. This issue can occur for several reasons, and here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.

  • Check for Removable Media: Ensure that there are no external storage devices (such as USB drives or DVDs) connected to your laptop. Sometimes, the computer tries to boot from external media if it's present.
  • Restart Your Laptop: Try restarting your laptop to see if the error goes away. Sometimes, this issue can be caused by a temporary glitch in the system.
  • Change Boot Order: Access your BIOS or UEFI settings by pressing a specific key during startup (usually F2, F10, F12, or Del). Then, navigate to the boot menu and make sure your internal hard drive is set as the first boot device. Save the changes and restart your laptop.
  • Check Hard Drive Connection: It's possible that your laptop's hard drive might have become loose or disconnected. If you feel comfortable, you can open the laptop and check the physical connection of the hard drive. Make sure it's properly seated.
  • Run Diagnostics: Many HP laptops come with built-in diagnostic tools. You can access these tools during startup by pressing a specific key (often F2 or F12). Use the diagnostics to check for hardware issues, including problems with your hard drive.
  • Repair or Reinstall the Operating System: If none of the above steps work, you may need to repair or reinstall your operating system. To do this, you'll need a bootable USB drive with the operating system installation files. Boot from the USB drive, and follow the on-screen instructions to repair or reinstall the OS.
  • Data Recovery: If you can't repair the operating system and you have important data on the laptop, you might want to consider data recovery options. You can connect the hard drive to another computer using a USB enclosure or adapter to retrieve your data.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
