I did the health tests on my protable HP EliteBook Folio 9480m which I believe is faulty.
I have problems that occur while browsing the web or writing in my word processing program. The display gets weird and often I can't copy / paste since it shows me something else.
After having tested all the other peripherals which gave an excellent rating, I tested the rams.
The first thing I did was make sure the strips are exactly what the machine requires, ie DDR3L 1600Mhz.
The test: the 2 strips of 8G still give an error after exactly 28% of the analysis. I must point out that the error causes the screen to freeze completely and I have to restart every time. I then tried each of the 2 8G strips one at a time and also in each of the 2 slots. The error is still present.
I also tried with 2 other new bars and the error is the same regardless of the tests.
I then tried my 2 4G strips again. The error now occurs at 54% of the test. I have also tried 2 other 4G strips and the result is the same.
Eventually I tried a single 4G ram stick and it worked out fine. The test has been carried out more than 30 times.
I then tried each of the 4 4G strips in each of the 2 slots and each time, regardless of the slot used, the test was conclusive, which finally confirmed to me that the 4G strips were good.
The problem would not be the RAMS.
I then searched the BIOS level to see if there was anything affecting the RAM but couldn't find anything.
I suspect there is a problem with my master card having bad firmware. I would like to find and insert exactly the right firmware for this machine since the problem also occurs when I install Ubuntu instead of Windows 10.
Thank you for the response

Given the date of your post, I would have expected someone to respond to it before this -- but since that has not happened, I will take a shot at it ...
There is no such thing as a "master card" for a laptop, so I have no idea what you are talking about.
Also, there is no general "firmware" for a laptop, either.
There is BIOS code, but if your laptop is running the current BIOS version, there is no firmware patch for it.
