Laptop plays a couple of choruses of the William Tell Overture every day at 1236 AM. This occurs with the device up and operating or with the device in sleep mode. I have faint memories of a virus with this name but AVG scans pronounce me clean. Muting the sound does not stop it, it shuts itself off after two choruses. Anyone have a similar experience?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
- Have you made any hardware/software changes?
- Did you make any changes on the settings of your PC prior to the issue?
- When was the last time it worked fine?
While you respond to that, let's try these steps:
System Restore returns your computer to the files and settings from the restore point. Your personal files and documents are not affected.
You can also undo a System Restore if the restore does not resolve the issue or if the issue becomes worse.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I'm embarrassed to report that the source for the music that I have been hearing was another device that was on the table behind my laptop, I couldn't differentiate between the two devices and didn't pin down the culprit until I moved it to another area. Thanks for your help guys now excuse while I go hide my head.
