Hello @AryaPal1

Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... and I would like to help you.

(1) Please send screenshot of windows disk management

(2) Check windows update history

Were updates applied yesterday/today, when your system was still working ?

For the second point. my system was working fine and there was no recent updates.

FYI , my system is having two inbuild hard drives i.e.

  • 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA
  • 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD

Hello @AryaPal1

Try to recover the partition tables of the lost drive using TestDisk

TestDisk direct download:

https://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk-7.2-WIP.win64.zip

Follow exactly these instructions

https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Step_By_Step#Partition_table_recovery

Please be careful and select the hard disk where the D,E and F drives are missing. If you use it incorrectly, you can lose even more data.

Hi @Ub6424

Thanks for your reply. I have installed the TestDisk as you suggested but unfortunately the missing harddisk is not showing. Only C drive is showing.

PFB the screenshot.  If it is not showing the partitioned disk, then what could be the issue and how can I recover my data. I am so confused now.

Ok, the next steps ...

(1) Test your hardware Using the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI)

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04499777

See how it works:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14GKIpGPNRM

(2) The specification:

Hard drive
  • 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA
  • 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD

Disassemble your notebook and check the correct connection of the hard drive(s), reinsert them if necessary. In your case, the SATA hard drive (with 5400 rpm) is probably affected. If it is defective thus no longer starts, this could be the reason for the drive failure in windows.

The Disassembly will be similar to what can be seen here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kb4AQZIG6so&ab_channel=Notebook-Center

In this introductory video, we will show how to disassemble laptop HP 14s-fq0035ur. Our team will show all necessary steps of disassembling, however don't hesitate to ask us if you have some questions. Be careful this may damage your laptop or other equipment! We are not responsible for any damage
This video shows how to test your HP computer hardware using HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI. If you suspect that your computer has hardware issues, follow the steps in this video to isolate and identify them using the HP PC Diagnostics UEFI. Chapters: 00:00 Introduction 00:18 Download and install
