Hi @RonnieJ62,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Envy laptop is stuck in a boot loop or failing to fully boot into Windows. Here are steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Shut down the laptop completely.
  • Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external monitors, etc.).
  • Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge residual power.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then turn the laptop back on.

Boot into Safe Mode:

  • Power off the laptop completely.
  • Turn it back on and immediately press the F8 or Shift + F8 key repeatedly to enter Advanced Boot Options.
  • If successful, select Safe Mode with Networking and see if the issue persists.

Advanced Troubleshooting

Run Startup Repair:

  • Turn off the laptop and power it back on. Press F11 repeatedly to enter the HP Recovery Manager.
  • Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Repair.
  • Allow the tool to diagnose and fix startup issues.

Check for Corrupted Boot Files:

  • Boot into Advanced Options as described above and select Command Prompt.
  • Type the following commands one at a time, pressing Enter after each:

chkdsk /f /r
sfc /scannow
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd

  • Restart the laptop and check if it boots successfully.

Update BIOS:

  • If you can access Safe Mode or the BIOS, ensure your BIOS is up-to-date. An outdated BIOS can cause boot issues.
  • Visit the HP support website for your laptop model to download and install the latest BIOS.

Reset Windows:

  • From the HP Recovery Manager, select Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
  • Choose to keep or remove your files and follow the prompts.

Hardware Issues

If the problem persists after these steps:

Run a Hardware Diagnostic:

  • Power off the laptop and turn it back on while pressing F2 repeatedly to enter the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool.
  • Run a full system test to check for issues with the hard drive, memory, or other components.

Check the Hard Drive:

  • If the diagnostic tool detects issues with the drive, it may need to be replaced.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
