Hi @Marina4
I just got an update from HP about this - here are instructions which should permanently fix the problem and provide a resolutions witout affecting anything else.
* If you have previously disabled App Readiness
- Boot the PC
- Click Start and type Services
- Open desktop app Services and find App Readiness
- Open the service and set Startup type to Manual
- Click Apply and close the window
- Download and install HP Image Enhancement for System Logon - http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp81501-82000/sp81965.exe
- Re-boot
* If you have not disabled App Readiness
- Boot the PC
- Wait 15-20 minutes for the boot process to complete and for the desktop to load
- Once on desktop, Download and install HP Image Enhancement for System Logon - http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp81501-82000/sp81965.exe
- Re-boot
Let me/us know if this works for you.

Hi @Marina4
Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for posting.
Note that I merged your 2 posts into one single thread - here, so that we keep everything about this problem into once single thread.
Norton is known that it may cause slow downs. Based on my experience I can say that it is neither the fastest, nor the lightest product. It is also not Since we (you) know the root cause of the problem - Norton, the easiest would be to remove it. Norton is known that it can slow down computers.
Uninstall Norton from Programs and features in Control Panel
Restart the PC
Download and run this Symantec/ Norton removal tool >> https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v60392881_EndUserProfile_en_us
Run it with the advanced option to only remove the product (and not reinstall it). The idea is to completely remove Norton and any possible leftovers (because Norton is known that it sometimes may not uninstall itself properly).
Does it make any difference eventually ?
Looking forward to your comments.

Hello,
thank you for the answer. I just bought the Norton to protect my computer from viruses, how can I just uninstall it? May I leave my computer unprotected? I installed it on other old Sony laptop and Mac and it there s everything ok.
I found an advice here from somebody who had 4. Minutes startup and I followed his advice to may one program in the system configuration services, inactive : App Readiness. Now it startup fast, but I don't know what else may not work, what did I turning off? Thank you.

You are welcome, @Marina4
The App Readiness service is a different story. If the PC has improved after disabling App Readiness service in Windows, that's fine 🙂 It seems the problem was not related to Norton and you can keep it.
Even if you decide to uninstall it, Windows 10 has built-in protection called Windows Defender along with many other mechanisms for protection.
There is a known issue which happened after recently pushed Windows updates (from Microsoft). You can read more here >> https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Boot-and-Lockup/SOLVED-For-everyone-who-is-having-black-screen...
Here is an additional info >> https://mspoweruser.com/windows-10-update-causes-hp-login-lag-heres-the-fix/
The solution is to disable the Windows App Readiness service (click on Start button , type services.msc , open Services, find App Readiness in the list, right click it, choose Properties and ensure the service is set to Disabled). The service works along with Windows 10 and Windows updates but is not critical service for Windows to work properly. Hopefully, Microsoft will release a new update and fix soon.

Thank you for the answer. I understood that App Readiness has a purpose to start newe apps and also updates of existing programme. Then I may have a problem? For new apps I can turn it on, but I cannot control updates. I cannot turn off windows update and other updates may happen in background. I do need this app then, don't I? Thank you.

Hi @Marina4
What is did is that it fixed the problem 🙂 Well, now seriously, I don't know what exactly does the exe file does because it is a closed source software, I can only see the binary. However, as per the official documentation, it fixes the issue - this is an update/patch for the recently applied Windows Update from Windows/Microsoft which caused the problems of slow startup.
HP has released an official documentation about this >> https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05704298
Thank You for your update and very glad that the problem has been fixed. Don't hesitate to post again if you have any other queries.
