Hi, My HP has been having this issue where it kept showing a message that said “The Selected Boot Device Failed.” After doing some research I came across an article saying to try changing the BIOS system from Secure boot to Legacy Boot, I did it, and now I no longer get the message but instead face a different problem, my HP is stuck on a start up screen (like completely black with only a white line signaling to start typing but won’t let me), I’ve tried to go back into BIOS but it won’t allow me to, I’ve tried multiple methods of pressing escape, Pressing F10 and just doing a bunch of simple resets, I’ve tried to charge it and the same things happens.

What you did only made matters worse, not better.  PCs come preloaded in either of two modes: UEFI with GPT, or BIOS (Legacy) with MBR.  Yours came with the first, not the second.  By changing it to Legacy, you have ensured that it will no longer boot into Windows.

Also, it IS loading the BIOS; otherwise, you would be getting NO messages on the screen because the BIOS code must be loaded in order for the display to show any messages.

You need change it back to UEFI and stop messing with the BIOS settings.

This issue is often due to a failing drive. So, let's check that first, because if it is failing, it would need to be replaced and there is no point then in doing anything else until we confirm that.

Since your PC is new enough to support UEFI, you can use these steps to test the hard drive: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00439024
