Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I just fixed the problem for my HP Mini not working, now it works, but I want to go on the internet but when I do, it connects to the wifi network, and then when I try to use an application associated with using wifi, the computer restarts. I tried fixing the date and time, doesn't work. The only way to get on wifi is safe mode but, safe mode has horrible quality and I want to use the computer like any other without going on other modes. Please help.

Hi @TheJasbre202,

Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that the issue still persists after following the steps provided in the previous interaction.

This issue could occur if the BIOS is not updated.

Please follow the link to update the BIOS: BIOS Update

If the issue still persists, then you may need to perform a windows recovery by following the steps in the link: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7)

Let me know if this works.

You have a good day ahead.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that the computer restarts when you connect to wifi network.

This issue could occur if the network drivers are not installed properly.

Let's go through a few steps that may help to fix this issue.

And here are a few steps to uninstall the drivers from device manager:

  1. Start Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Device Manager.

  2. Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and click Uninstall.

  3. On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.

  4. When the uninstall process is complete, remove the device.

Note With some devices, you might have to restart the system to complete the uninstall process. The device might continue to function until the system has been restarted.

Deleting a Driver Package from the Driver Store

On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the Delete the driver software for this device option to delete the driver package that was used for the device.

Now, you may install the drivers from the link: Atheros Wireless LAN Driver for Microsoft Windows 7

Let me know how this works.

You have a good day ahead.

I had to factory reset it, helped the problem, but the only problem now is i want to get it to Windows 8, 8.1 or 10. Because Windows 7 isn't my favorite update. If you know a way for me to get any of those updates for free, pls help.
