Hi @Dayisss_01
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query.
The "Boot Device Not Found" message indicates that the system is unable to detect a valid bootable drive or operating system. This is typically related to a hard drive/SSD issue, a loose connection, drive failure, or boot configuration problem. We recommend performing HP Hardware Diagnostics to check the storage device. If the issue persists or the drive is not detected, please contact your nearest authorized HP Service Center for further hardware inspection and repair assistance. I would request you to please follow the steps:
Symptoms
- The computer powers on but does not boot into Windows.
- A message appears stating "Boot Device Not Found."
Possible Cause
- Incorrect BIOS settings.
- Faulty or improperly connected hard drive.
- Corrupted boot sector or system files.
- Defective hard drive or SSD.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Disconnect all external devices.
- Shut down the computer.
- Remove the AC adapter and battery.
- Hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and AC adapter, then turn the computer back on.
Check BIOS Settings:
- Restart the computer and press Esc or F10 repeatedly to access the BIOS Setup.
- Ensure that the boot order is set correctly, with your hard drive set as the primary boot device.
- Look for options like Legacy Boot or UEFI Boot and adjust these settings according to your configuration.
Run Hardware Diagnostics:
- Use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) tool to test the hard drive.
- Restart the computer and repeatedly press F2 to enter the HP Diagnostics screen.
- Select Component Tests and choose Hard Drive. Run the quick and extensive tests for more accurate results.
Reseat the Hard Drive:
- Power down the laptop and unplug all cables.
- Remove the back cover of the notebook.
- Check the hard drive connections, ensuring they're secure.
- If necessary, remove the hard drive and reinsert it into its slot.
Repair Boot Sector:
- Boot from a Windows installation media or recovery disk.
- Access the Command Prompt via Troubleshoot > Advanced Options.
- Use the command bootrec /fixmbr followed by bootrec /fixboot and bootrec /rebuildbcd.
Consider Hard Drive Replacement:
- If the diagnostics report a failure or if the issue persists, the hard drive might be faulty.
- Consider replacing the hard drive with a new one and reinstalling the system.
