Last month my laptop started sounding like it was working overtime, the fan was a lot louder than usual and the hest coming out was hotter than usual. I just assumed it was due to age and all my work things and games I have on it so I started using one of those stands with a built in fan that you plug into the usb port. My laptop has been off for about a week due to me not needing to use it. When I tried to start it up an hour ago it made the usual startup noises but kept turning itself off and on about 5 seconds into startup.

@ClarissavH22 Welcome to HP Community!
here's what you need to do, start with a hard reset as per HP standards: Click here for details.
If Windows suddenly restarts without warning, or restarts when you try to shut it down, it might be caused by one of several issues. Windows could be set to restart automatically when certain system errors occur. A BIOS update can also resolve the issue. Use the information in this document to resolve issues with the computer restarting unexpectedly.
If the computer restarts unexpectedly and then does not start to Windows, see one of the following documents for steps to resolve this issue:
-
HP Guided Solution - No Power or No Boot Troubleshooting for notebook or desktop computers.
-
Computer Does Not Start (Windows) for notebook computers.
