Helo im having an issue that my laptop a week ago started freezing once a day and when it freezed i immediately asked gpt about this problem and he asked me to do the ram scan and disk check and health and the result was no porblem was detected so i thought its just a one thing and the day after it freezed again and again and the problem escalated i didnt know what to do so i format my laptop then it didnt freeze for like 6-8 hours and when i was almost done using the laptop it frooze again so i figured out the problem hasn’t resolved so i have restes the bios to defult incase its has a bios problem and i cant updat it in case it freeze mid update. The still the problem is there. I tried to turn of my gpu and use the cpu as gpu since it might be the gpu causing the problem, and the problem escalated even more now it freeze mid boot and if im lucky i moght sign in for a few seconds then it freezes. And i have tried removing one ram and move it to the other slot and it didnt make any differnces. And i have checked if it freeze beacuse the cpu temp when it was freezing not alot the cpu temp was 65-80 varies if im watching or the laptop is idle and it frooze.
so is anyone had a similar problem cuase i have trying alot of soultions and none of them were the one
note i didnt try using another monitor to see if it might be a display problem but when it freeze i tried the shut down short cut windows+X+u+u and it didnt so probably the while pc is freezed

Laptop Freezing Issue - Seeking Help
About a week ago, my laptop started freezing once a day. When it first happened, I sought advice and was recommended to run a RAM scan and disk health check. The results showed no issues, so I assumed it was a one-time occurrence. However, the freezing persisted and escalated over the following days.
To address the issue, I formatted the laptop. After formatting, the laptop worked fine for 6-8 hours but froze again while I was using it. Realizing the problem hadnt been resolved, I decided to reset the BIOS to default settings, suspecting it might be a BIOS issue. I avoided updating the BIOS because I feared the laptop might freeze mid-update.
Next, I suspected the GPU could be causing the issue. I disabled the dedicated GPU to force the system to use the integrated GPU. However, this made the problem worse now the laptop freezes mid-boot, and if Im lucky enough to log in, it freezes within seconds.
I then tried removing one RAM stick and testing each RAM module in different slots, but that didnt make any difference. I also checked the CPU temperature to see if overheating was causing the issue. The CPU temperatures varied between 65°C and 90°C, depending on whether the laptop was idle or playing a video. However, it still froze regardless of the temperature.
Even in Safe Mode, the laptop eventually froze, which rules out third-party drivers or software as the primary cause. When the system freezes, it seems like the entire laptop is unresponsive. For instance, I tried using the shutdown shortcut (Windows + X > U > U) when it froze, but nothing happened, suggesting the problem affects the whole system, not just the display.
Additionally, my laptop’s battery is dead, and it has to remain plugged in to work. This hasnt caused issues in the past, but I wonder if it could now be contributing to the problem.
So far, Ive:
1. Run RAM scans and disk health checks (no issues detected).
2. Formatted the laptop (freezing persisted).
3. Reset the BIOS to defaults (no change).
4. Disabled the dedicated GPU to use the CPUs integrated graphics (problem worsened).
5. Swapped RAM sticks and slots (no difference).
6. Monitored CPU temperature (freezes even at reasonable temps).
7. Tested Safe Mode, where the laptop still froze.
I havent yet tried using an external monitor to rule out display issues, but since the entire system is unresponsive during freezes, I doubt its a display problem.
At this point, Iâm out of ideas. Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as Ive tried many solutions without success.
thats a better grammer version of what i said above

Hi @cmos502reset, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Since you've already done extensive troubleshooting, the fact that the issue persists even in Safe Mode suggests a hardware-related problem. Here are some additional steps to consider:
Possible Causes & Solutions:
Check the Power Adapter & Dead Battery Issue
- A failing power adapter or a dead battery can cause instability. Try using another compatible HP charger. If possible, remove the battery and run the laptop directly on AC power to see if it stabilizes.
Test with a Single RAM Stick (Again, but More Thoroughly)
- Even though the RAM test came back fine, try using only one RAM stick at a time in each slot. If one stick works fine while the other freezes, the faulty one may not always show errors in a RAM scan.
Boot from a Linux Live USB
- Download a Linux distro (like Ubuntu) and create a bootable USB. Run it without installing and use the system for a while. If it still freezes, it’s almost certainly a hardware issue.
Check SSD Health & Try Another Drive
- Use CrystalDiskInfo to check your SSD health.
- If you have a spare SSD, try installing Windows on it to see if the freezing persists.
Motherboard or GPU Failing
- Since disabling the GPU made things worse, it’s possible your dedicated GPU or motherboard is failing. The fact that the system freezes before booting fully supports this.
External Monitor Test
- While it doesn’t seem to be a display issue, testing with an external monitor is still worth trying.
Last Resort: BIOS Update
If none of the above work and your system can stay on long enough, updating the BIOS might be the only option left. To avoid freezing mid-update, create a BIOS recovery USB using another PC and update via the HP BIOS Recovery tool.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I tried your RAM slot solution, and my laptop’s freezing issue has improved significantly. I removed one RAM stick and turned on my laptop, and it worked fine for about 3–4 hours before freezing again. Suspecting a faulty slot, I switched the same RAM stick to the other slot, and the laptop ran for another 2–3 hours before freezing.
Next, I removed the freezing RAM stick and tested the other RAM stick in the opposite slot. However, when I booted the laptop, the CAPS LOCK light started blinking, indicating a possible issue with the RAM, BIOS, or CPU. I then switched the RAM to the other slot, and the laptop booted successfully, but after a few hours, it froze again.
Given that the freezing issue has improved when using only one RAM stick, I suspect the motherboard may be the problem. Would you agree? If so, how much would a replacement motherboard cost? Thx.
