There is a small light next to the plug in port that flashes three times when I push the power button but no other signs of life. I have tried multiple plugs with same result. Have tried draining battery with it unplugged by holding power button down for 20-30 seconds and no effect. What's next?

@BJep67, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It sounds like you're dealing with a power issue, and the three flashes next to the charging port are a diagnostic code, which can be helpful for identifying the problem. Here are a few steps you can try next:
Understand the Diagnostic Light Code:
For HP laptops, the flashing light typically corresponds to a specific error. Since it's flashing three times, it's important to interpret the pattern.
3 flashes can sometimes indicate a hardware failure or issues with the battery or power supply.
I suggest you refer to this guide: HP Notebook PCs - Computer beeps or a light blinks during startup | HP® Suppor
Inspect the Power Adapter and Charger:
If the adapter is faulty, it could explain why you’re getting no power. You’ve already tried different plugs, but it might be worth testing with another compatible charger if possible.
If you have access to a multimeter, you can measure the voltage of the charger to make sure it’s outputting the correct voltage.
Check for BIOS Corruption:
I suggest you do a BIOS recovery. You may refer to this guide: HP Notebook PCs - Recovering the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) | HP® Support
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
