Did the fingerprint reader quit working?

 

If this is a new system, the fingerprint reader is optional

Go into the BIOS setup and look in Security  for Fingerprint Reset on Reboot

If it is grayed out then there is a hardware problem, or the fingerprint board was an option that was not installed or available for your laptop.
