Hi @ASalve,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2000 doesn't show a camera in Device Manager and lacks a physical camera kill switch, here’s how to troubleshoot it properly:
1. Enable Hidden Devices in Device Manager
- Press Win + X → Select Device Manager.
- Click View > Show hidden devices.
- Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras.
- If the camera appears greyed out, right-click and choose Enable device.
2. Scan for Hardware Changes
- In Device Manager, click Action > Scan for hardware changes.
- This may detect and reinstall the camera if it's missing.
3. Install or Reinstall Camera Driver
- Go to HP PCs - Troubleshoot the webcam (Windows 11 and Windows 10) | HP® Support
- Download and install the latest camera driver for your laptop from HP or Windows Update.
4. Check Windows Privacy Settings
- Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
- Make sure Camera access is turned on for apps and the system.
5. Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics
- Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to enter HP Diagnostics.
- Run a Component Test > Webcam to check hardware functionality.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
